Mavis ('Poss') and Bill Stower welcome you to Treasures of the Past

Poss and Bill live in Inglewood Queensland, a thriving rural community about a three hour drive South and West of Brisbane. They have lived here for most of their lives.

Bill’s Dad was the much loved Headmaster of the local State School, and Poss’s Dad was the Senior Postal Clerk at the Inglewood Post Office.

They have shared and responded to the many changes in their community over the years. There were boom times in the 60’s, when a vibrant tobacco growing industry drew immigrants from Italy and Eastern Europe, enriching the community with cultural change.

They have lived through floods and fires, good times and bad, and still enjoy life in this pretty country town. Friends have come and gone but many remain.

Their two daughters, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren live in different parts of the world. They all come home to Inglewood often.

For 47 years, Poss and Bill were the proprietors of Inglewood Agencies. The business began as an electrical sales and service business, and over the years grew in its diversity and scope, in response to the changing needs and requirements of the local market. It became an eclectic mix of diverse and interesting offerings, and was always a vibrant hub of activity in the centre of town.

Poss and Bill, in their business lives, were renowned for their integrity, and the consistent quality of their customer service. Their motto “we service what we sell” was adhered to in a wonderful way, and much appreciated by their customers who came from all walks of life.

Poss and Bill loved to travel together and share adventures. They explored many far flung places all over the world, wore out their shoes, and came home with tales to tell, wonderful memories, stores and treasures.

They retired only a few years ago and are busier than ever. They are involved in various projects. Bill grows grapes and makes his own wine and is currently developing an invention of his. Poss has turned her attention to sifting through the memorabilia from their interesting past, to share with others.
